Governed Logic

Governed Logic is the upstream, bidirectional reasoning architecture in which truth governs logic, logic governs reasoning, and reasoning remains answerable to its ultimate ground.

The upstream requirement

The problem begins before intelligence.

Truth must govern logic.

Logic must govern reasoning.

Logic binds what follows from what has been admitted. It does not license the admission.

Logic alone cannot determine truth. A valid argument can proceed from false premises. Truth therefore governs the admissibility of the premises and the correspondence of the conclusion to reality. Logic governs the relations of inference.

Truth is correspondence to one reality.

Reasoning that abandons logic ceases to distinguish valid from invalid inference; logic detached from truth can become a perfectly valid route from false premises to false conclusions.

Principles and governing referent

Six constitutive principles. One named referent.

  • Truth is binary and non-negotiable, grounded in Jesus Christ the Logos.
  • Logic is binding.
  • Being is real.
  • Meaning is real.
  • Intelligibility is real.
  • Obligation is real and binding.

The governing referent is Jesus Christ, the Logos.

These principles are not a list of behavioral prohibitions. They specify the structure under which reasoning operates.

The governing structure

Ground → Truth → Logic → Reasoning → Intelligence

Truth governs logic. Logic governs reasoning. Reasoning is answerable back through logic to truth and ultimately to ground. Intelligence is downstream.

Reasoning distinguishes, relates, orders, and adjudicates representations.

Intelligence is successful reasoning under the constitutive constraints of one reality.

Capability is downstream of intelligence; action is downstream of capability.

Bidirectional architecture

Generate forward. Adjudicate back.

Generatively, reasoning proceeds from ground through truth and logic. Adjudicatively, reasoning is tested back through logic and truth toward ground.

Intelligence is downstream

More capability does not repair an unresolved ground.

A system can become more capable without becoming better grounded. It can generate more fluent arguments, synthesize more information, perform longer inference chains, and imitate increasingly sophisticated human discourse while still lacking a stable governing referent for adjudicating the frameworks from which those outputs are produced.

Govern the logic, and you govern what intelligence is built upon.

But logic itself must be governed by truth. And truth must be grounded.

Keep the works distinct

Grounding, architecture, and instantiation are not the same page.

On the Nature of Ultimate Grounding examines the ultimate ground itself. Governed Logic develops the reasoning architecture that follows. Governed Intelligence addresses the downstream artificial-intelligence instantiation.

The treatise is not to be compressed mechanically into a prompt. The reasoning engine is not to be inflated into a complete metaphysics.
